January 10, Working Journalists’ Day: To those who pursue the truth
The foundation of the communications profession is the responsibility to convey accurate information in the right way.
Journalism and public relations, though often seen as opposing sides, meet on the same ground: accurate information.
The first thing a PR professional owes a journalist is accuracy. Exaggerated or incomplete information may land a story in the short term, but in the long term it ends the relationship.
The second is timing. Respecting a journalist’s deadline is the most tangible sign of courtesy in the relationship.
On January 10, we celebrate the day of all our colleagues who walk steadfastly in pursuit of the truth.
